Abstract / Description
Medical Legal Partnerships (MLPs) are a multidisciplinary approach to providing direct civil legal services in order to address health harming legal needs. This Essay will provide background and context for the development of MLPs as a tool of legal services provision by looking at to two models utilized at Legal Aid Chicago: The Health Justice Project, and Health Forward/Salud Adelante. Each partnership is tailored to meet the needs of both the patient/client population served, as well as to the different types of medical providers that engage with the partnership. Each partnership has provided lessons and best practices for establishing and implementing and evaluating an MLP. (author abstract)
